Important message from my Blog:
SEO Scams and Misunderstandings
- Unlike web directories, which are maintained by human editors, search engines either operate algorithmically or are a mixture of algorithmic and human input.
- There are 300 million searches carried out every single day.
- 85% of qualified Internet traffic is generated through search engines.
- 75% of searchers never look further than the first page.
- In the USA, Google accounts for 64% of all searches, Yahoo is next in line with 22%, followed by MNS at 9% and Ask.com with 3% of all search requests. The remaining search engines account for 5%. Source: Hitwise, March 2007.
- Search engines do not have records of a website (don't know you exist) until the website is found and/or placed into it's indexing files.
- A great website with great SEO/SEM is a powerful combination.
- Most web design companies do not optimize for search engines.
- Most SEO companies do not design websites.
- Most web designers do not offer SEO copyrighting.
- SEO is not and will never be an exact science.
- When seeking assistance for SEO, try to find someone who is passionate about this field, and offers free advice (ME!).
... and their website should be within the top twenty results for the search you entered (ME AGAIN!).
I offer Google Page One for all clients, utilizing my SEO Webdesign Plan.

What I Need from You to Get Good SEO
I recommend composing at least 250 words of content per page. You don't necessarily need to write about product/services descriptions, you can just talk about it - relations within the industry, latest topical news, or even adjust someone else's article to relate and personalize it to your taste. If you still need help, I also offer SEO copyright services.
Try to categorize your products and/or services to present a different subject on each page. For the basic minimum, I suggest a home page that gets directly to the point, an about us page (see this article for how-to), and a "call to action" page, such as a contact form. You will likely need other pages describing more in-depth about what you have to offer; and eventually add on a FAQ page.
You cannot compete with saturated keyword search results. Don't even consider using keywords such as:
‡ kitchen remodeling ‡ real estate New York ‡ SEO services ‡ famous movie stars
There is plenty of searches to bring a great market with more descriptive phrases. WIth a good focus on your products/services, you should be able to generate attainable keyword phrases for Google first page. You will also be likely attract a more committed audience this way.
To follow up: and have a better chance of keeping your SERP: Your content should be updated frequently. At the least, your web copy should seasonally. For maximum results, at least monthly. In most cases, updating your website will actually increase your SERP's. The last thing you want to display is a stale, static website.

Notes
From: Templamatic.com, mixing SEO with web design:
SEO services are certainly in demand. Some designers are very knowledgeable with SEO, and some are not. In my opinion only a small percentage of designers have the knowledge to justify adding SEO services, but it can be a great addition for those who are qualified.
Design and SEO overlap in building a site that's search engine-friendly, and full service SEO will take that several steps further. For clients it would be nice to keep both the design work and the SEO under the same roof, so it makes sense for designers to provide this service if it's possible. Many times an SEO will want to change certain things about the site's design or structure, but this could be avoided if the same person or company was providing both services.
How A Search Engine Determines Duplicate Content, from searchengineland.com. This is a concise article dealing with duplicate content and how it can affect your SEO:
With so much good content on the web, it's inevitable that the same information will be displayed many times over. Whether it's a blog post pointing to good statistics, an RSS feed pulled into a complementary site, or blatantly copied material, duplicate content can be an issue.
